The Quest to Moral Perfection - 1689 Words

Morality: it is a term that is questioned at every corner of every day. The moral idea ranges from something small such as helping an old women cross the street, to the extreme such as the recent actions taken by politicians to limit public union rights in Wisconsin. Dictating the difference between right and wrong has been an issue that dates to the times before Christ, where the idea of moral perfection was used to determine one’s right of passage into heaven. It was not until Benjamin Franklin, who published a guide within of his autobiography, describing thirteen steps to achieving moral perfection. Franklin used these morality milestones to thrive in living a successful life and eventually become one of the founding fathers of the†¦show more content†¦I believe this government cannot endure permanently half slave and half free. This quote suggests that Lincoln stood by his principles, which is the perfect of Resolution. He would go out and build on his principles and rebuild a torn nation from the ground to the world’s great nation again. Franklin shared these same principles when it came to his person and private life. For instance he strived to be the better philosopher from his young ages, he also did not just invent one thing but to keep striving to be better and making humanity better in its own way. It almost seems that resolution was the background to making the thirteen virtues. The next two virtues apply to not only his job but also anyone who takes on the active role of following these guidelines; they are frugality and industry. It is a common practice to cut cost in any business, to buy cheap but effective equipment to lower the cost to the consumer. Franklin most likely used this to his ability when going in and out of printing presses and making his own. Having the top of the line equipment may seem great but at times is not necessary. Popeye Every little kid has heroes. Most kids in my generation followed the ninja turtles, wrestlers, and other various sorts of characters. Not that I didn't like them also, but my hero was quite different from all the usual common heroes. My biggest hero was Popeye, the Sailor Man. To me, Popeye was the ultimate. He always did the right thing no matter what. Popeye had a girlfriend, and he got to wear a really cool sailor suit. And with a can of spinach, he could take anyone on, and come out victorious. Anyway, I was pretty well obsessed with Popeye. My best friend, Joseph Lake was an awesome artist, even at age six, and he was always drawing Popeye pictures. He even taught me how to draw him. The two of us would play Popeye games in his room, where he had specialized Popeye equipment just for such purposes. I remember we built a fort out in his woods, and pretended it was Popeye's boat. Even though it wasn't in the water, it worked for us. I would watch the cartoons every day. One of my most favorites was a circus episode, where Popeye and Olive Oil had a job in the circus, but eventually the animals got out of control. Of course, Popeye had to bring things to order, beat up the animals, and turn them into luggage in one punch, which was my favorite Popeye trick. One day, my teacher announced that we would be doing a school show. We would put on our very own parade, all first grade classes together, and everyone had to participate. There would be animals, clowns, jugglers, and puppets. ?But what about Popeye I asked. Umm... what about Popeye? replied the teacher. Well how can you have a play without Popeye The teacher, quite perplexed about the whole argument, tried to reason with me. I kept quiet, but I wasn't going to give up being Popeye. Back then, it was my understanding that we had a big problem: a teacher with a script set in stone and a first grade brat. When I went home after school that day, I was furious. I couldn't take it that my hero wasn't allowed in the play. I rambled off to my mom how Ms. Scott was unfair and mean. Mom told me if I cared so much, maybe I should write a letter to her explaining my thoughts. And that's just what I did. In my best handwriting, and my mom next to me making sure I spelled the words right, I wrote the letter. I told her how the parade would be so much better if Popeye was present and expressed that I would be the best Popeye. My mom and I stamped the note and drove down to the post office. I remember the drive down to the post office. My mom was driving and just started to laugh at the situation. She told me she had never seen a kid so concerned about something. Utill this day she still says she has never seen me more concerned. Her laughter angered me and I didn't talk to her on the ride back. I waited out the long weekend and was very anxious to see what Ms. Scott had to say. That weekend I practice my Popeye impersonation all over the house. I told mom to make me spinach thinking that if Popeye ate it and got strong, maybe I would. But when I took a bite, I didn't eat anymore spinach. Finally Monday arrived and I waited all day long to see if Ms. Scott said anything about the parade and Popeye. The day drew to a close and she said nothing. When we were dismissed, I was very confused. I kept wondering why she hadn't mentioned it. I told my mom and she said she probably had not received the letter since we mailed it on a Saturday. So I waited another day and hoped she would get the letter. Again I stayed patient all day long, still she said nothing. Finally when we were in our reading groups, she called me over. His son Sartoris informs de Spain indirectly about the fire and runs away hearing gun shots in the end from the barn. The story â€Å"A Rose for Emily† presents Emily as a very stubborn lady who lives her life in her own way and finds her own ways to deal with situations. She constructs her own ways and methods to lead her life and does not care about the restrictions of society. This can be seen when Emily refuses to pay the taxes and the stubbornness she shows towards the pharmacist when she asks for arsenic without a prescription and does not abide by the rules. She also poisons Homer Barron when he refuses to marry her to keep him with her. This is against the norms of the society but she has her own way of living. Considering the other story of Barn Burning it can be seen that the character of Snopes is almost the same as that of Emily. It is seen that both characters face from some sort of difficulty in coping up with the matters of life. Emily has been left secluded all her life whereas Snopes even with a family cannot keep a control on his temper. Snopes also has a very bad temper as it can be witnessed from the story. He ends up revenging at different instances as shown by William Faulkner. He burns the barn of Mr Harris when he asked to pay a dollar for his hog entering into his premises and he attempts to burn the barn of Mr de Spain too when he accuses him of ruining the rug. This clearly shows that both the characters share certain characteristics which make them revenge. Both the characters are stubborn in their language and this can be witnessed in their actions respectively. It is because of this stubbornness that Emily ends up killing Homer Barron and Snopes hitting Sartoris. Isolation is a t heme which can be found in both the stories of William Faulkner. Employee of the Month Essay Zack Bradley, a box boy at Super Club, a Price Club/Costco/Sam’s Club type store. He’s more than content with his life as a box boy. He lives with his grandmother, hangs out with his buddies in their homemade lounge in the center of the store’s shopping racks, trades away dented goods, and gets along with just about everyone. In fact, there’s only one person Zack can’t seem to get along with: lead cashier Vince Downey (Dax Shepard), the epitome of retail world brown nosing. Vince has been employee of the month at Super Club for seventeen months straight and winning the eighteenth time means big prizes (including a â€Å"newish† Chevy Malibu) and a promotion. Usually that title wouldn’t mean anything to a slacker like Zack, but when the new hot cashier Amy (Jessica Simpson) appears on the scene with rumors that she goes for employee of the month, Zack decides to give Vince some competition. This is, at its heart, an underdog film, which I almost always enjoy to some degree. Zack is constantly trod upon by Vince’s overwhelmingly good luck. Even when Zack and his friends try to get the best of the big suck up, something good happens for the egotistical wonder that allows him to come out ahead. It’s a real testament to the power of positive thinking once you learn that Vince sees his job as a big success (â€Å"why climb a mountain when you can win the land race? † he asks) while Zack knows his job sucks but took it as a way not to hurt anyone after a business failure cost his grandmother her retirement savings; Vince thinks well so he does well, Zack doesn’t. But really it’s a way of making the audience really want Vince to get his comeuppance, and feel a great sense of satisfaction once he begins to. With a cast comprised of stand-up comedians, singer turned actors, and former Ashton Kutcher â€Å"Punk’d† assistants one doesn’t exactly expect Oscar caliber acting from Employee of the Month, however the performances aren’t terrible either. Dane Cook acts as a subdued Ryan Reynolds which is exactly what this role needs. Reynolds’ normal antics would be too much for the tempo of this movie. Jessica Simpson only has the demand of being attractive and an object of desire; a role she fills perfectly, although a few of her lines are still wince-worthy. Dax Shepherd is a bit over the top in the villain role, but it works. The true standout performances come from the supporting comedic roles, filled with actors like Andy Dick, Harland Williams, Brian George, Tim Bagley, and Napoleon Dynamite’s Pedro, Efren Ramirez. With a cast able to capture laughs in just about every direction, the film keeps the audience snickering, if not making them laugh a little louder. Indeed, Employee accomplishes more chuckles with a little subtlety than with its attempts at the big laughs, although there are more than a few of those. Observant audience members will notice just how much the employees of Super Club abuse the store’s merchandise, from using broken products as bargaining chips to having gallon buckets of ice cream and massive bags of chips in their homes. People willing to consider the movie even further will find hilarity in the way the employees of Super Club treat their retail jobs so seriously, as if cleaning up that spill or the speed of a cashier’s pass-through rate really matters. Dane Cook and Dax Shepard may not offer the best underdog comedy this year, and the movie certainly doesn’t stand up to Wedding Crashers (which shared the same producers as the advertisements are more than happy to remind everyone) but it’s still an enjoyable, silly little comedy. Consider it along the same guilty pleasure lines as Jingle All the Way or Dodgeball or a more viewer friendly version of that Steve Carell comedy. It’s good for lighthearted fun, just don’t expect any life changing experience watching two store clerks competing for the grand title of Employee of the Month.

Ancient Near East Millions of years ago the procreant low lands in the river basins of Euphrates and Tigris was probably the home of some animal life, but no great civilizations. However, things change over time, and just a few thousand years ago the same fertile low lands in the river basins of Euphrates and Tigris became the home of a very rich and complex society. This first high society of man was located in what some still call "Mesopotamia". The word "Mesopotamia" is in origin a Greek name meaning "land between the rivers." The name is used for the area watered by the Euphrates and Tigris and its tributaries, roughly comprising modern Iraq and part of Syria. South of modern Bagdad, this alluvial plain was called the land of Sumer and Akkad. Sumer is the most southern part, while the land of Akkad is the area around modern Bagdad, where the Euphrates and Tigris are closest to each other. This first high, Mesopotamian society arose as a combined result of various historical, institutional, and rel igious factors. The reality of these factors occurring at a specific place within the fabric of space / time indeed established the basis for this first high civilization. Items like irrigation, topography, and bronze-age technical innovations played a big part along with the advent of writing and the practice of social conditioning (through the use of organized religion) in this relatively early achievement of man. The factors of irrigation, inherent topography, and useful bronze-age technical innovations paved the way for the agricultural revolution to occur in the land of Sumer and Akkad. The people of the Tigris and the Euphrates basin, the ancient Sumerians, using the fertile land and the abundant water supply of the area, developed sophisticated irrigation systems and created what was probably the first cereal agriculture. This historical factor resulted in an excess of production of cereals, dates, and other commodities. The consequence of excess is the emergence of a productive peasant agricultural system and a redistributive economy that fuels the progress of civilization. Without a doubt, the Sumerians were highly innovative people who responded creatively to the challenges of the both the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Not just any spot on the planet is a good prospect for irrigation, and it is the topography of the land and the intelligence of the people that allowed efficient irrigation systems to develop.

Performance evidence demands consistent and repeated performance to the required standard.Work products might be pre op checks, job descriptions, duty rosters, check lists, accident forms, policies and procedures, records of phone calls, records of correspondence communication book records.Work products about clients or staff should not be photocopied and put in the portfolio. Assessors should view them and fill in the relevant sheet showing what was read, where its kept and for which PCs, it is relevant and attach it to an Evidence Record sheet.The candid ates contribution to the Work Product needs to be made clear. Putting in an organisational policy or procedure does not show evidence of the candidate’s skill or knowledge unless there is evidence to show. They understand the policy or procedure or they have applied it to their own area of work or they have trained their staff in it or they have used the policy or procedure.Generally certificates only provide proof of attendance at a course and are not a test of knowledge or competence. Assessors may need to ask questions to test competence or knowledge. Some assessors now show proof of competence across defined situations and this provides good evidence. There are two types of witness – the expert witness and the non-expert witness.An expert witness is someone given the role of regularly and systematically observing and reporting on candidates when they are performing tasks which produce evidence towards an NVQ and who is occupationally competent, with the necessary expertise in the area for which they are providing testimony. This information should be noted by the assessor.Briefed by the QA to ensure that they understand the standards to which the evidence relates because the expert witness testimony is more rigorous and covers a wider range of the candidate’s performance, it usu ally has greater weight than the testimony of other witnesses. Non experts my also be used as witnesses, however, their evidence may be less reliable than that of the expert witness as they are unlikely to be familiar with the standards being assessed.Assessors must judge the validity of all witness testimonies. NVQ units cannot be achieved by relying on witness testimony alone.Achievement of an NVQ unit will always involve observation of the candidate by a qualified assessor taking account of the evidence provided by witness testimony.Simulation This is where the candidate cannot provide evidence to cover PCs and where  asking questions may be insufficient. Examples might be dealing with a health emergency or working with someone who challenges the service.Recognising Prior LearningSTRENGHTS:1. If a learner had a previous rpl , it can be used to support their other assessments. Accrediting their prior learning assessment makes a learner feel that any work done in the past in this area was not a waste of time 2.qcf is giving learners the opportunity to use rpl more and they define it as â€Å"a method of assessment that considers whether a learner can demonstrate that they can meet the requirements of a unit through knowledge, understandingand skills they already possess and do not need to develop through a course of learning†. Limitations:1.may be time consuming for the assessor as will need to validate the rpl not all of it may be relevant to the current criteria they are assessing. 2.each assessor needs to check the guidance for their relevant qualification, as the guidance varies for different qualifications.Written questioningStrenghts:1.Can take the form of essays, short answer questions or multiple choice questions. Short and multiple choice questioning are examples of objective testing as there is only one correct answer. This form of assessment is quick and easy to mark wich means feedback can be given quickly to learners.Limitations:1.Multip le choice questions can be guessed if the learner is unsure so they might not be the best way to get an accurate measure of whether the learner has understood something. If more depth on short answer questions is requied, essays can be used to assess understanding, literacy and high level comprehension although they take time for the learners to complete and for the assessor to mark.Oral questioningStrenghts: 1.Can form a secondary or backup assessment to check for comprehension. They can be used to support theory while the learner is practising their skills or at work and they can be adapted or changed quickly depending on the situation. 2.open oral questions should be used to draw out the information from the learner. Limitations:1.Assessors should be careful not to use closed questions unless testing agreement.

Grameen Bank methodology is almost the reverse of the conventional banking methodology. Conventional banking is based on the principle that the more you have, the more you can get. In other words, if you have little or nothing, you get nothing. As a result, more than half the population of the world is deprived of the financial services of the conventional banks. General features of microcredit in Bangladesh Grameen bank are: It promotes credit as a human right. The main mission of the microcredit is to help poor people or families to help themselves to overcome poverty. its targeted specially poor women. Its not based on enforceable contract, based on Trust. Grameen bank provied door-step service where people should not go to the bank, bank should go to the people. For my research I choose this topic, because the disbursement of small finance to the poor people in the rural area seemed to be successful. And women’s position ware less honoured to the family in Bangladesh culture but when Grameen Bank (architect of micro credit in Bangladesh) started delivering special credit scheme opportunity to the women and they started implementing and earning for the family, the status of the women ware changed and their contribution to the decision making in to the family became more important. 2)  Possible Research Question: As we know methodology for a research question is very important and has to be chosen to fulfil the purpose of the research. The Nature of Adam Before the fall According to Cairus, God created man in his own likeness, and gave man dominion over the earth.
